A CRAZY IDEA BECAME REALITY

The origin story

1990

SPRING: A CRAZY IDEA BECAME REALITY!
Rainer Stephani, then living in Munich, was invited to a meeting by a golf friend.
With three other business friends from the Munich area as well as two gentlemen from the former GDR, very unrealistic plans were made this evening based on expectations of the blossoming landscapes promised by Chancellor Kohl. A few days later, a meeting on the island of Usedom was arranged.

JULY 3: A PHRASE CHANGES EVERYTHING:
Mr. Stephani drove to Usedom with an acquaintance and during an island tour on the country road between Pudagla and Neppermin, the beautiful landscape prompted him to say: "A golf course should be built here".
This remark prompted the accompanying gentlemen from Usedom to take action. A week later, they informed Mr. Stephani that they had been to the municipality and that a golf course could be built.

AUGUST: CHECKING THE PROPERTY CONDITIONS
To be able to even consider the realization of a golf course, the property conditions were important. Subsequently, research was conducted at the Wolgast land registry office, revealing that almost all owners were residents of Balm.

OCTOBER: MEETING IN THE OLD SCHOOL
A meeting with the relevant owners took place at the "Old School" guesthouse, where the possibility of such a project was explained. The idea met with unanimous approval, which is why Mr. Stephani decided to realize the project.

1996

OCTOBER 2: FIRST GROUNDBREAKING & CORNERSTONE LAYING
However, the planning and approval phase proved to be much more difficult and longer than expected.
Only 5 years later could construction of the golf course and the hotel begin.
Initially, an 18-hole golf course with a 6-hole practice course was built.

1998

MAY 28: HOTEL OPENING
With the 18-hole golf course & 6-hole practice course, the main house Balmer See with wellness area, underground parking, restaurant as well as the four residences "Krebssee", "Gothensee", "Schmollensee" & "Schloonsee"

1999

JUNE 20: OFFICIAL OPENING TOURNAMENT
with evening event

2000

GOLF COURSE EXPANSION
The golf course was expanded by nine holes, so that 3x9 holes were available which could be combined with each other.

The golf reception "Golfhus" was also built.

2002

CLOSE TO THE LAKE:
Harbor & sunbathing lawn were added

TWO ISLANDS EVEN CLOSER:
Residences "Böhmke" & "Werder" were opened.

2005

MORE RELAXATION
Opening of the Asia Pavilion

2006

TIME TO DREAM
Opening of the residences "Usedomer See" & "Krienker See"

2007/2008

SECOND GOLF COURSE EXPANSION:
The golf park was expanded to 2x18 holes & a 9-hole practice course as well as restroom huts.

WEIGHTLESS:
Expansion & renovation of the swimming pool area

NEW SPLENDOR:
Expansion of the guesthouse "Old School"

A NEW HOME FOR A WHILE:
Opening of the residence "Wolgastsee"

2012

FEBRUARY 2: HOTEL FIRE
The main house caught fire due to a technical defect. After 156 days, the reopening was in July.

A NEIGHBORHOOD TO LIVE IN
Opening of the residence "Nepperminer See"

PURE ENJOYMENT
Opening of our "Steakhus"

A LITTLE MORE SPACE:
Construction of the greenkeeper machine hall and underground parking for e-carts with the caddy room
